The Liberty City Police Department, commonly referred to as the LCPD, is a metropolitan police department that serves Liberty City. It also serves the neighbouring Alderney City operating under a law enforcement contract. It is featured in Grand Theft Auto IV and its downloadable episode packs.
It is an increasingly multicultural police force with Asian, Caucasian and African-American police officers seen in-game. Dwayne Forge says that he once wanted to be a police officer but that "...they didn't encourage black officers back then." Unlike NOOSE and the FIB, who will often shoot on sight, they will actually attempt to arrest the protagonist. At higher levels, however, officers will shoot to kill.
