Maureen McReary-Wilson (nee O'Neill) appears as the mother of the five McReary siblings, and one of the primary cast members of Sibling Rivalries.

Description[]

In 1992, while in their first semester of college, Maureen O'Neill met Aiden McReary late at night, who comforted her when she was feeling hopeless about being able to succeed. They stuck by each other's sides, enjoying their 1996 graduation together and then marrying in 1998. Later in 1998, they also moved to Vancouver, Canada after receiving job opporunities. From 1999 to 2006, she gave birth to five children, creating a family with her husband. However, Aiden died from lung disease in July 2006 shortly after Kate's birth, leaving Maureen a single mother caring for her children. She was very upset about her husband's death, but she had her children to keep her happy, even if it proved to be a challenge.

On October 20, 2013, for Gerry's 10th birthday, Maureen and her kids moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin to start a new life in the USA. Maureen remained a single parent for two years, until July 2015 when she met Hector Wilson. The two got married later that month, and Hector became the step-father of Maureen's kids.

From here on she is known as Maureen McReary-Wilson, though that is technically not correct as McReary is not her maiden name; she should be either Maureen O'Neill-Wilson, or simply Maureen Wilson. It is possible that following the death of her first husband, she wanted to permanently keep his last name as her own in memory, and did not change it when she married Hector, she simply kept McReary and hyphenated her last name to McReary-Wilson.

Maureen and Hector open a restaurant together named the McReary-Wilson Family Café in summer 2015, being able to run the place and cook the food for all of its customers.

Trivia[]

  • Chronologically, Maureen has the first lines of dialogue of the entire Sibling Rivalries franchise, speaking first in "Pack To The Past" which has scenes set in 1992 (earliest point seen in the series).
  • In "Maureen Be Not Proud", her top four favorite songs are revealed, which include "Paint It Black" by The Rolling Stones, Down Under" by Men At Work, "Steppin' Out" by Joe Jackson, and "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson.
  • Her hairstyle was often mixed up with that of Joel Gonzales, when Joel is meant to have two strands going down on each side of his head while Maureen has multiple strands. In Season 6, their hairstyles were reversed, but was corrected in Season 7 onward.
