Sibling Rivalries: The Next Chapter (also referred to as The Next Chapter or by its abbreviation TNC) refers to three attempts at a spin-off/sequel series to the original 2013 Sibling Rivalries.

All attempts were made while the original series was in a "cancelled" state, and involved aging up the characters to place them into new situations. Neither of these series' lasted more than one season, with the third attempt having nothing more than a failed pilot. Of course, these series' stop being canon to the SR timeline as soon as they are cancelled.

First Attempt (2017)[]

This series saw the characters aged up by three years, placing 14 year-old Patrick McReary into his first year of high school. Packie and step-cousin Adrian Wilson formed a new group of friends with students in their homeroom including "cool" guy Aaron Velazco, the energetic Victor Clay, and the introvert Anthony DeoBer.

This series focused on the gang's adventures in high school, but GTA Nerd later hated this series as he realized the other McReary siblings became such minor characters.

Second Attempt (2021)[]

  • Last SR comic to be completed: "Overprotect and Serve", Season 10, 2021
  • Series Run: June 22 - August 5, 2021
  • Total # of comics: 6

This series aged the characters up by eleven years, making the characters legal adults. The McReary siblings navigated new parts of their life, and the series was meant to have different comics about each of them:

  • 25 year-old Francis McReary raising a child with his ex-girlfriend
  • 23 year-old Packie was still living with his parents, and became a famous Twitch streamer
  • 21 year-old Gerald McReary played college football, and also went out with many cheerleaders
  • 19 year-old Derrick McReary (who graduated high school and college early), became a high school math teacher, and one of his students was 18 year-old Kate McReary. The two also shared an apartment
  • Speaking of Kate, she is seen to be promiscuous; after breaking up with Mark Sanders, she goes out with all kinds of guys, which makes Derrick mad as she cares more about sex and bringing guys home than focusing in school.
  • 24 year-old Zachary Marshall shared an aparment with other 24 year-old Steve Madison. The two worked together as artists, and also happen to be in a relationship that they are too shy to reveal to everyone else.

The series took inspiration from the 2021 revival of iCarly, as it was a bit raunchier with swear words, depictions of alcohol, and references to sex. It failed as GTA Nerd realized the siblings cannot work when they are separated from each other and living in different places.

Third Attempt (2021)[]

  • Last SR comic to be completed: "Overprotect and Serve", Season 10, 2021
  • Series Run: November 27, 2021
  • Total # of comics: 1

Shortly after the second TNC failed, this third attempt ages up the characters by five years. Set not too long after Season 8 comic "Pack To The Future" (which saw Francis move out to college), 16-year old Packie was meant to have new adventures in high school (similar to the first TNC attempt) as well as looking out for his other siblings.

  • 12 year-old Kate was still in middle school, and it was unknown how she would have been handled in future comics.
  • 15-year old Gerry would be playing on the high school football team, and also moved into Packie's room to be his new roommate in leiu of Francis.
  • 13 year-old Derrick was attending high school early as he was smart enough to move up two grades, so Packie would have to protect him from anybody that may bully him.
  • 18 year-old Zachary, on his last year of high school, would've also had a secret relationship with Steve Madison that he doesn't want anybody else to found out.

What would've made this series interesting was Packie having the ability to drive. He had his own car, and the first comic saw him take his other siblings on a road trip.

Hopefully this was the last attempt at TNC. After countless failures, GTA Nerd believes the original formula of having the siblings be young and living together is what will always work.

What was implemented into the series from TNC?[]

  • Characters from the first attempt, Aaron, Victor, and Anthony became characters in SR Season 6 comic "Get Rec'd!" with the same personalities as before, only they are aged down by 3 years to have their 2013 ages like all other characters. They remain minor characters throughout the series, but GTA Nerd regrets adding them; he did not see any use for them past the seventh season, especially since character traits of theirs could already be seen in other characters such as Salvador Martinez (Aaron), Gerry (Vic), and Zachary (Anthony).
  • The current character model used for Aiden McReary actually originated from the first TNC, as did the names of his parents, Sean and Eileen McReary.
  • The design for Green Bay Southwest High School that appeared in the first attempt later appeared in SR Season 8 comic "Pack To The Future", and will be used whenever scenes will take place at this school.
  • From the second and third attempt, SR Season 11 comic "The Cartoonist" hinted that Zachary and Steve may start dating.
  • The name of Bruce Warren, a child predator that was the main antagonist of Season 12 comic "Black Bear", was taken from a character in the first TNC. This original incarnation of Bruce was a freshman football player that Victor accidentally insults, so he challenges them to a fight.
    • Speaking of the fight between Victor and the original Bruce, this plot point could've also been an inspiration for the SR Season 12 comic "My Ma Said Knock You Out".
  • Woozy Lite is a brand of appear that first appeared in the second TNC; before returning to the main series, it also appeared in Strugglers In Arms.
