Trivia[]

  • This comic marks the first appearance of Angel Chacon, who is very angry at Packie for screwing up over and over. However, by the end of the comic, he apologizes for being so grumpy and wishes to befriend Packie, which Packie accepts.
  • In real life, Packie would not have been able to substitute for Gerry in the game, as the team should already have a backup for him. Packie also has no experience in football, so he definitely would not be a good replacement for him. Author GTA Nerd criticizes this point numerous times when looking back on old comics as an adult, and it was even brought up in "The 100th Comic Spectacular!".
    • However, a future tweaking of the dialogue has Gerry mention that the team doesn't have a backup player for him as they never expect him to mess up. GTA Nerd understands how this is still nonsensical but makes him hate the comic slightly less.
  • The Season 2 comic "The Football Faker" is similar to this comic; instead of Packie playing for an injured Gerry, Gerry pretends to be Packie after the latter told the girls at school that he is really talented at football, but then the girls say they want to see Packie in action.
  • The night that this comic is set is also the same night where Joel meets with James, and James encourages Joel to be a member of the Wisconsin Warriors, and become evildoers bent on taking over Green Bay. The scene of Joel being initiated as a member was shown in a flashback in Season 9 comic "The Mighty J!".
